Overview

Inside The Book

Looking back on my childhood, one memory that has always stuck with me is seeing my mother struggle. I remember her boldness even in tears, as she tirelessly worked to feed us and keep food on the table. After losing her husband early on, she found herself preyed upon by opportunistic uncles, all while we were trying to get by. This hardship shaped me profoundly. I knew early on that I wanted my life to be different. I was determined not to marry just anyone but to travel abroad and pursue my dreams.

Indeed, the road of life isn't always effortless but rather a winding path filled with rises and falls, twists and turns. Each one of us has been through our fair share of tribulations, but let me tell you, every single setback has been nothing less than an opportunity to learn and move forward. They've been the catalysts that have pushed us to dig deeper, learn more, and emerge stronger than ever before. And it was James’s stint in the military that taught us this priceless lesson - that the strength to endure and the audacity to confront challenges are the keys that unlock the door to surmounting anything that life throws at you.

Being a part of a royal family constantly battling its own demons was no walk in the park. It was the lessons I learned in childhood that gave me the tools to juggle my academics while looking after a family. But you know what? I chose to befriend these challenges. Because it was not just about me; it was about a deep-rooted love for humanity and an insatiable desire to nurture and care for others. This profound sense of purpose was the beacon of light that kept me moving forward.

We have always been firm believers in the transformative power of resilience and collective effort. We've been knocked down, yet we've managed to rise every time. We've been pushed to the wall, yet we've found a way to break through. And the secret lies in viewing setbacks as invaluable life lessons. It's all about the perspective. We aim to impart this wisdom to as many as possible. So, here's our advice to you - remain unbroken in the face of adversity, welcome your challenges as opportunities for growth, and always keep an eye out for the silver lining.

In Solid Foundations, You Will Learn

Hi there, I'm James Okeke. I first opened my eyes in the western region of Nigeria to parents who were entrepreneurs by trade. After finishing college, I dipped my toes in a few vocational jobs. I pursued higher education while juggling the challenge of survival. Ultimately, it was my tenacity, honed from a young age, that saw me through these challenging times. As Stella Okeke, a Nigerian native hailing from the Eastern Region, I was born into a royal Ibo family, not one of affluence but of titles and honor. Growing up was a blend of royalty and the struggle of most people, really a paradox I experienced within the confines of my family home.

We were two unique individuals, born into contrasting environments, yet it seemed like the universe conspired for our paths to cross. Our souls, as diverse as our backgrounds, were predestined to intertwine, leading us on a shared journey that knew no boundaries. Our story, however, is not just about our individual growth but also our shared experiences and the life we've built together. In retrospect, our journeys were marked by tenacity and an unyielding belief in ourselves.

With James in the United States, I was finishing my education in Nigeria. Afterwards, I moved to the States to continue my nursing education. I obtained my degree from the University of South Carolina, where we met and fell in love, and the rest, you could say, is history. But that was just the beginning of our joint venture. After completing my undergraduate studies, I harbored ambitions of pursuing a master’s in nursing. However, life had other plans in store for me. My partner, James, was part of the Army, and his job necessitated frequent relocations.

Our cultural experiences, being African, are so vibrant and unique. Despite the challenges and stereotypes we face, it's really our time to shine as Africans. It's a massive opportunity for us as Africans, for people like me, James, and you. So many African people have made incredible achievements. I hope that we can use these successes to give back to our people, uplift our beautiful culture, and help lift many out of poverty. Our culture is so rich, but we face economic and leadership setbacks. I hope we can use this opportunity to go back, rebuild, and help our people. This is the kind of opportunity that being a licensed financial professional provides.

Together, personally and professionally, we have deep convictions and strong principles. Our shared experiences, both in the military and nursing profession, have shaped our philosophy about life. We believe in the golden rule: "What goes around comes around." This maxim underscores our belief that our actions, whether good or bad, have consequences that might not be immediate but are certain. James would never compromise on his dedication to mentorship, seeing it as an essential aspect of his life and career.

Our philosophies about life are intertwined with our professional lives, shaping not only how we work but also how we live. We hold steadfast to these principles, viewing them as essential guides in our journeys. We believe that these philosophies have not only made us better professionals but also better individuals. And we are committed to passing on these values, hoping they will inspire and guide others in their paths.

“Waiting long enough, and they will prevail” signifies the importance of patience in facing challenges. Patience is not about doing nothing; it's about understanding the nature of time and our capacity to change. It's about knowing that even the most substantial obstacles can be overcome if we give ourselves enough time to adapt, learn, and grow. When we exercise patience, we allow ourselves to experience, learn from, and eventually overcome our challenges.

Our story showcases how we have weathered storms together, reinforcing how unity can help overcome adversity. This can be a beacon of hope and inspiration for struggling family members. It shows the power of collective strength and resilience, giving courage to those facing their struggles. It further emphasizes shared growth, demonstrating how two people can evolve together, bettering not only themselves but also each other.
